Overall, Hotel Gibbs was a great place to stay for the price, especially considering the location. You really can’t beat being within walking distance of the River Walk, bars, restaurants, and having the Alamo literally right across the street.
I also really liked the historic character of the hotel. That said, there were a few issues that made our stay less comfortable. The AC in our room never got very cold, the refrigerator wasn’t working properly, and our TV remote didn’t have batteries and our lamps didn’t have bulbs/didn’t work.
The biggest downside was the noise. There is currently construction/remodeling happening across the street, and we could hear construction noise throughout the night, which made it extremely difficult to sleep.
For the price and location, I still think Hotel Gibbs has a lot going for it, especially if you want to stay right in the middle of downtown San Antonio. However, I would definitely recommend checking on the construction situation before booking if you’re a light sleeper.

Clean spacious authentic feeling suite (ie no Mc-Hotel vibe). Great location. Never drove the car for two days...easy walks anywhere we wanted to go.
